What this tool does
Prints page numbers onto a document. Three formats are available: the bare number, the number with the total (1 / 12), or Page 1. The number sits in one of six spots — left, center or right, along the top or the bottom edge — and you set its size, the number to start from, and which pages get one.
How to use it
- Drop the PDF.
- Choose the format and the spot on the page.
- Set the size and the starting number; leave page one blank if it is a cover.
- Narrow down which pages get numbered if you need to, then download the file.
Common questions
- I do not want a number on the cover.
- Turn on Leave the first page blank. Numbering then begins on page two, and the starting number goes to that page.
- Do the numbers have to start at 1?
- No. Type any starting number and the first numbered page takes it.
- Is the number real text or an image?
- Real text. It stays selectable and searchable, and the file barely grows.
